5 Years!

Wow, it’s been 5 years!  Just a quick update until I find the time to see a doctor and have new x-rays done…

In short, all is well.  I played two seasons of hockey since the last post with no issue (aside from my crappy goaltending – i’m getting old!). 🙂

I’m leading a busy and normal life with young kids, here in New York and my back doesn’t limit me.  Knock on wood, and I appreciate it every day.  Yoga, walking, kids and some hockey.  So far, so good.

  1. Thanks for the great blog Brett! You’ve done a ton of research and it’s much appreciated! I’d like to ask if you’re still taking any pain medication? Also how much foot pain did you have prior to your surgery? Do you have any now?

  2. Hi Laurel,

    Thanks for reading!

I’m not on any pain killers for my back anymore, though I have been taking those “animal flex” pills for a knee injury I sustained playing hockey… just a minor strain though as far as I can tell.

It’s been a while since surgery and I don’t remember specifics on pain in my feet, but I don’t remember having much foot pain. My pain was predominantly in my shins and lower back(the back was the worst). I do remember a lot of persistent numbness and tingles in my right big toe, both hamstrings and my left bum area though. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

  3. I just re-read one of my old posts and it sounds like I had the shin pain radiating down over the front of my ankles too… I’m very lucky to have forgotten about how it felt pre-op.
