I’ve submitted my application for reimbursement, though I’m not sure I’ll have much luck without going through the Out of Country Health Services Commitee.
These Manitobans didn’t have much luck.
Hopefully, I hear back soon.

Hi Brett,
It’s Katie from SPS Forum 😉 Thanks for the link, and I just wanted to wish you luck on your appeal for coverage with out of country funding. I fought here in Ontario for several years, hired a lawyer and presented what was equal to a Thesis ;-). They squashed me by insisting that I needed an Ontario doctor to recommend surgery. Of course there were none, or OHIP (Provincial Medical governing body) would give them grief (as related to me by a specialist). I had doctors in BC and Quebec happy to help me, as well as one of the top neurosurgeons in NY, but they refused to to accept any of them.
I have given up on it, but am hoping that private insurance (Sunlife) may help a bit.
I really hope you have better luck than I did. Please keep me updated.
Sue aka Katie
Thanks, Sue! I’m not holding my breath, but it sure would be nice to get some of it back. Back surgery is an expensive endeavour!
I really liked Pimenta as well, but the flight duration and language barrier got the better of me.
